- Panorama Historical Museum and Historical Boulevard Park: 2 km from the hotel. The former territory of Sevastopol’s Forth Bastion (fortification) is now a hillside park known as the Historical Boulevard. This majestic park was created in 1905 as a tribute to the heroes who fought in the first, 349-day defence of Sevastopol during the Crimean War. The same the Panorama Museum was opened to the public. The panorama complex is undeniably the gem of the Historical Boulevard and is of national pride not only for the citizens of Sevastopol, but for all Ukrainians and Russians as well. The Panorama complex consists of two floors. The ground floor houses a small museum dedicated to the events and heroes of the first defence and to the creation of the panoramic painting located on the second floor. The Painting “the Defence of Sevastopol” depicts events that happened on June 18, 1855. The painting illustrates the day’s battle as viewed from the top of Malakov Hill. It was on this day that the French forces stormed the Russian bastions at Malakov Hill and the British forces attacked the Redan. Despite being greatly outnumbered (75 000 Russian troops against 173 000 French-Anglo troops) the Russian soldiers fought with grwat determination to protect the city.
The painting’s canvas is 115 meters (377 feet) in length and 14 (46 feet) high. The total weight of the painting is almost 9 tons with over 1 ton coming from the oil paints alone.

- Chersonese National Preserve: 4 km from the hotel. Spread across approximately 1500 acres, Chersonese (from the Greek word for “peninsula”) is considered one of the best preserved Greek colonial territories and the most important classical site on the Black Sea. Continuously inhabited for almost two millennia, Chersonese interacted with and defended itself from such peoples as the Taurians, The Scythians, the Sarmatians, the Goths, and the Huns. In 1996, Chersonese became the only national preserve in Ukraine. In Chersonese two museums can be visited. The main building of the museum houses the Byzantine collection. Among the exhibits in the Byzantine galleries are fresco and mosaic fragments, architectural details, ceramics, glass, Byzantine icons, ivory carvings, reliquaries, grave markers, liturgical objects, and items from everyday life. Similarly, fine pieces are displayed in the rooms housing the Greek and Roman collections which are located in the second museum building.
For Ukrainians, Belorusians, and Russians the importance of Chersonese is intimately connected with the spread of Christianity to their countries. According to chronicle sources it is here that in 988, the Grand Prince of Kyiv, Vladimir, was baptized and received.

Sapun Mount is 240 meters (787 feet) high and it was of great strategic importance during both World War II and the Crimean War. Being a natural defence for Sevastopol, it was on and around Sapun Mount where some of the heaviest fighting took place including the heroic assault where, on May 7, 1944, Russian soldiers stormed the mount and liberated Sevastopol from their German captors. The Diorama was first opened in 1959. It houses a small museum dedicated to Sevastopol’s role during World War II. Its main attraction is the massive painting “The Assault on Sapun Mount.” The painting is 5.5 meters (18 feet) high and 25.5 meters (84 feet) wide.
In the memorial park surrounding the Diorama are sights of interest including tanks, artillery guns, and various other type of equipment that was used by the Russians during the war.
